There is not one person who has not heard of Rajinikanth if you ask me! He is a name, a brand, a figure of superstardom and there is no match for his style and his popularity. But when you think about how he started out, you will be bewildered by his story for sure! But he made his own fate and today he has respect flowing from all corners of the world. Everything that Rajini does is headlined for the media and not to forget the crazy fan following he has who literally worship him!"If an ordinary bus conductor can stand on the same stage as India's legends, then yes, miracles do happen." - Rajini on his stardom

Rajnikanth : Journey from the Humble Bus Conductor to Superstar
Rajnikanth

What made Rajini a superstar? Was it all overnight? Of course not. This dark-skinned superstar with his unparalleled style quotient reached the epitome, one movie at a time over decades. He won the hearts of the people with his style, he's acting, his demeanor, and also for the person he is in real life. He might play a sturdy guy on screen, but in real life, he is a man who is known for his simplicity. Even the Big B of Bollywood admires the star and has a lot of respect for him. Rajinikanth’s Days In Bengaluru Rajinikanth was born Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on 12 December 1950 in a poor household in the city of Bangalore. He was the youngest son in a middle-class family where luxuries were virtually unheard of. His father was a police constable and he lost his mother when he was five to cancer.

"You won't get anything without hard work. What you get without hard work will never fructify." - Rajini The making of this Tamil Superstar is quite interesting, he had never dreamed of becoming a movie star, let alone ‘The Superstar’. His early days were spent on working odd and meager jobs like a bus conductor in Bengaluru. But Rajini’s fate had something else in the store for him.   He then began to take part in stage plays. He was also offered a part in playwright Topi Muniappa’s mythological plays. It was during this time that he came across acting classes at the Madras Film Institute and decided to join against the wishes of his family. His friend and coworker Raj Bahadur supported him financially during his course. Rajini’s talent was supposedly identified by K Balachander (whom he also considers as 'Guru') and offered to cast him in his movie (Tamil). Soon his talent was exploited well in the Tamil industry.

His popularity grew like wildfire and he starred in Bollywood movies too during the 90s and that includes with Big B as well. He made his debut in Tamil cinema with ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ (1975), where he played a supporting role of an abusive husband opposite Srividya. The movie was well received and went on to win three National Awards. Although a supporting role, Rajini's passion for acting got him recognized and he went on to make many movies after that. Muthuraman made melodrama ‘Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai’, where Rajinikanth played a hero who sacrifices everything for his siblings. This was the turning point in his career, where he went from an actor to a performer who brought tears to the audience from his performance in the movie. His Passion Will Never Be Old For Rajini Remember the time when his movie 'Kabali' was releasing? His line, ''Kabali Da'' was all over the news! It had become an anthem and that is the case with all his movies. He gets the audience engaged and delivers thorough entertainment through his movies. There was a time when Rajini’s movie ‘Baba’ did not do well at the box office and with that disappointment, Rajini decided to quit. I think his passion inside of him was not quite ready yet to give up so easily. However, his close friends and fans did not let that happen and he decided to continue. ‘Sivaji: The Boss’, which released on June 15, 2007, broke all his records at the box office. The movie was released after filming for two years but I think it was worth the wait. Making records was not big for Rajini I gather.  Because his movie ‘Robot’ and '2.0', was said to be the most expensive Indian film ever made and became the highest-grossing film in the country at the time.

He may be getting old but his stardom and his popularity will never fade for his fans. When it comes to awards and accolades, Rajinikanth has won more than his fair share. He has won six Tamil Nadu State Film Awards – four Best Actor Awards and two Special Awards for Best Actor – and a Filmfare Best Tamil Actor Award. He is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India’s third-highest civilian honor. Living his passion has taken Rajini Sir from nothing to a Thalaiva status. I think this tells you how important it is to believe in your passion and living it too. Passion Connect salutes Rajini Sir.
